help square

/srv/square is a directory every member can write to. Notes, scripts,
a story written by three people, whatever you like:

  echo "hello from $USER" > /srv/square/hello-$USER.txt

Only you can change, delete or rename what's yours there. For a project
with other people, make a directory everyone can add to:

  mkdir /srv/square/zine
  chgrp members /srv/square/zine
  chmod g+ws,+t /srv/square/zine

The s makes new files in it belong to the members group, g+w lets others
add theirs, and +t keeps anyone from deleting someone else's. Files
other people can edit need g+w on them too. It all counts toward your
quota and isn't backed up. Read /srv/square/README.
